Parent volunteers needed for first home meet (5/30)
May 29th
Hi! We are excited for tomorrow's meet. We need parents/older siblings (HS - esp. those that need volunteer hours) to volunteer to help. For tomorrow's meet only - we have split some of the jobs into shifts for to split up the meet:
Here are some of the job descriptions:
- Bull pen: We need a team of two to check in swimmers. Assistant coaches will bring them to you - just need you to organize by lane and check in. All you need is a heat sheet and pen to do this. No experience necessary.
- Timers: We have stop watches and need two timers for each lane. Home team provides (6) and away team provides (6). This meet we have them split into shifts (events 1-30 and 31-54). Timers need to pay attention to start and when the swimmer in their lane finishes. Then the one timer per lane writes the times down and will give these to the "runner." No previous timing experience necessary.
- Runner: Get your steps in as a runner for the swim meet. Your job is to pick up scoring sheets from each lane throughout the meet and take them to the data entry team inside the clubhouse. Wait until the end of the event or age group event (boys/girls) to pick up to save a few steps. You will be able to watch your swimmer from the deck as you help pickup/deliver score sheets. No experience necessary.
- Heat updater: This person pays close attention to the meet and updates the app after each event.
- Heat winner: Don't miss an event as the heat winner volunteer. After EACH heat your job is to give the fastest swimmer/relay whatever the "head " prize is for that week's theme. You will award them the beads as they exit the pool, and then get in place to watch the next event. No experience necessary.
- Concessions: When we have snacks/pizza to sell at home meets - concessions will help sell these for us. No experience necessary.
- Scoring/data entry: This position is usually assigned. Your job is to enter times on the computer inside the club house. Parents may still watch their swimmers compete, but then focus on data entry based on timer sheets. Thank you to our head scoring/data entry volunteer Anita Hagin.
We have opened up swimmer/job registration for all Tuesday meets.
